How to prepare without using a stove
No electric can opener, and I prefer cans over jars for juices and jars for beans.
Combine ingredients in a pot or skillet, cover, bring to a boil and reduce the heat. Simmer for at least 20 minutes.
It’s difficult for me to measure things in the conventional way. I often make a recipe and measure only the amount of seasonings that I want to use.
After I’m done with that, I put in whatever seasoning I want to use. It’s much easier this way than trying to figure out the amount of seasonings I will need while I’m cooking.
If I make a recipe without electricity, I measure what I use after I’m finished and store the rest in the refrigerator.

The following is what I made the other day. It included potatoes, onions, tomatoes, green beans, and cornmeal.
I didn’t put anything in this. It was excellent and just the way I like it.
This recipe also made very delicious tacos: Here is what I made.
You will need bread, salt, and pepper.
I didn’t use the breadcrumbs because I was at my desk and had to get busy as quickly as I could, so I didn’t have time to thaw them.
To serve, cut a potato in half lengthwise. You will need to cut each half into four slices.
In the bowl of a food processor, add 1 1/2 cups of onions, a teaspoon of salt, and a tablespoon of olive oil.
Process until onions are almost completely chopped. Add 1/2 cup of dried green beans. Process a few seconds longer to combine and the beans.
Add to the pan a can of whole peeled tomatoes and 1/2 cup of canned corn. Add 1/2 cup of chopped tomato salsa and 1/4 cup of sour cream.
If you’d like more sour cream, add it now.Process the mixture a few seconds more to combine.
Put the mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Mix 2 cups of crushed corn chips into the melted butter. Spread the chips over the bread mixture.
Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown and crispy. It’s also very good with fresh tortillas and sour cream.

This next one is what I made. I used grape tomatoes instead of grape juice because I had one of those and it didn’t matter.
This was a very good tomato based dip: Toasted bread, Parmesan cheese, and garlic salt make a very good breadcrumb mixture.
Dill pickles were fantastic on this: Cooking without electricity, step by step:
Unplug your refrigerator. Remove as many fruits and vegetables as you can from your crisper drawers (if you have any).
Check your pantry for cold items. Take any frozen items out of the freezer.
Put any left over foods you didn’t use yesterday into the refrigerator for another day or two.
Clean out the refrigerator. You’ll find that the light that usually comes on when the door opens is not on.
That is usually a good sign that it’s good to eat those leftovers now, so remove everything from the refrigerator and clean out as much as you can.
If you still have some leftover fresh vegetables, wash them and chop them. Store them in a container or bowl with a lid.
If you have a plastic container, put an inverted cone cup upside down inside it to hold the vegetables at the top of the container. It will give you an air tight seal when you put the lid on.
There should be room in your refrigerator for more food and you can probably put some of the remaining food into a Tupperware container, but you will still have leftovers.
If you have an icebox, remove the ice, pack in plastic bags, and store in the freezer.
