Pay your licensing fees
After you have done the required research, gathered all of your documents and money, and determined that you are eligible to take the real estate exam, it is time to sit for your license!
The next step is to prepare yourself physically and mentally for the experience. You will be taking a test with both practice exams and actual products so there is some degree of simulation.

The EFCID test is three hours long and costs $150-250 depending on your source. Most people take it online via a company that offers certification exams or through a commercial division member agency where someone else administers the test. Get federal and state tax IDs
You will need both your Federal Tax ID (such as Social Security number or taxpayer identification number) and your State Tax Identification Number (also referred to as Sales Tax Registration or SRTA numbers) to be able to practice real estate brokerage in California.

Your State Tax ID is only available from your county clerk’s office so you will want to make sure that you have proper contact information for this location handy.
