In a world where smartphones are as ubiquitous as air, Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a device that could redefine the landscape of mobile technology: a folding iPhone.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-regarded analyst at TFI Securities, Apple is on the brink of solving one of the most persistent annoyances in foldable phone design—the dreaded crease.

The advent of foldable phones promised a futuristic leap in design and usability, yet the technology has been marred by a conspicuous flaw.

The crease, a visible line where the screen folds, has plagued even the most advanced models, turning sleek innovation into a glaring imperfection.

Apple, however, seems poised to erase this blemish with their forthcoming design, potentially setting a new standard in the industry.

Kuo’s insights suggest that Apple’s approach will be a book-style fold, boasting an impressive 7.8-inch inner display that remains seamless and crease-free.

The exterior will feature a 5.5-inch display, allowing for functionality even when folded.

The anticipated thickness of the device, 9–9.5mm when folded and 4.5–4.8mm when unfolded, positions it as one of the slimmest foldable phones on the market, rivaling the Oppo Find N5.

But Apple’s design ambitions extend beyond mere aesthetics.

The incorporation of stainless steel and titanium alloy in the hinge and casing reflects a commitment to durability, signaling Apple’s intent to craft a device that is both beautiful and resilient.

In a nod to nostalgia, Touch ID is expected to make a comeback, this time integrated into the side button, enhancing both security and user convenience.

However, innovation comes at a cost.

The first-generation foldable iPhone is projected to retail between $2,000 and $2,500.

This price tag, while steep, leverages Apple’s unrivaled brand loyalty and the iPhone’s status as a cultural icon.

For many, the allure of owning a cutting-edge device may justify the investment, especially if Apple succeeds in delivering a product that meets or exceeds expectations.

Despite the excitement, potential buyers will have to exercise patience.

While specifications are expected to be finalized by mid-2025, the official project launch is slated for later that year, with mass production anticipated in the final quarter.

This timeline suggests the foldable iPhone might debut after the iPhone 18 lineup, giving Apple enthusiasts ample time to start saving.

As we look to the future of mobile technology, Apple’s rumored folding iPhone could be a game-changer.

If Kuo’s predictions hold true, it will not only overcome the longstanding crease issue but also set a new benchmark for innovation and design in the smartphone industry.

As with all things Apple, the world watches with bated breath, eager to see if the tech giant can once again redefine our relationship with technology.
